Wesley's new room....finally!

We moved rooms around before Lennon was even born. I had all intentions of getting the big girls room completed before (or close to Lennon's arrival). I was fairly successful in completing Grayson's room, however Wesley's is just now mostly finished. It really wasn't ALL my fault. We attempted to decorate months ago but acting on a great tip from Dr. Laura...I implemented a lesson in gratitude consequence. That is if my children were repeatedly to be disrespectful or ungrateful, they would have everything removed from their room but the necessities. In this case, Wesley pushed the button and found herself in her room with just a bed and dressers...nothing on the walls, no technology, no pictures of friends, etc. She was allowed to have a set of flashcards and books. That was it. Each day that she chose to behave, she would get ONE item back. So needless to say..she has gradually been able to earn the rights back to her things and is excited that I put her frames and decor on her wall. Next to do...pictures in the frames...ughh!!

Disney on Ice

So I know it's been OVER a month since I blogged but that is directly correlated to our busy lives the past 30 some odd days. We have managed to cram in a school carnival, Disney on Ice, a First Holy Communion, Jake's 6 day vaca to the Masters Golf Tournament, Truman's 2nd birthday party, a helmet for Lennon's head (and a trip back to KC for a fitting), our first year of state assessments for Grayson and all the things that go with our normal every day lives. I am actually kind of impressed that it has only been 30ish days or so!!

We had great seats and loved all the colorful costumes.

I remember my grandparents always taking all 4 of the grandkids to these events each year. I am quite sure that cotton candy back then wasn't $12 either!!!

Spring (NOT!) Break

Didn't head for the beach or hit the slopes but did make it to Kansas City for two days with all four kiddos. First stop....College Basketball Experience (which we loved!!)

This was major...Grayson never touches anything!

Had lots of fun but with this awful weather I am booking next years trip to some place warm!!!!

Lennon 6 months

Half of a year in pregnancy lasts a lifetime but this past half of the year with Miss Lennon has been a lifetime of blessings...

...so many smiles that brighten our days

...sitting up like a big girl with only a few face plants!

You survived a bout of thrush and conjunctivitis in your eye. No major colds or sicknesses...knock on wood! You haven't had your 6 month appointment yet but at last check you were a whopping 15 lbs! Definitely sporting the 6-12 months clothes and eating like a champ!! (Anybody else see the red hair?)

The 6th man

I know that typically in the sports world the 6th man is typically the fans....I get it! But this story all fell together so unexpectedly that the 6th man is what I call this...

Jake was invited to join a group of his friends to head to Stillwater to watch the CATS play for the Big 12 title. There were other guys that were supposed to make the trip but for whatever reasons could not go. Jake was even told before the trip that he would be int he backseat (who knew that guys had seating arrangement plans!) Jake was excited to go hang out and was hoping to see KSU make history.

Unfortunately the CATS lost to OSU meaning that the only way that they could win the Big 12 title (and it would be shared with KU) was if KU lost to Baylor later that night.
After the game the guys stopped at Eskimo Joes for some beers and some eats and decided to watch the KU game there. As we all know, KU lost in grand fashion to Baylor. Some of the guys that Jake was traveling with have connections to the KSU athletic department and were called to see if they were still in the area and would bring back the Big Twelve title trophy! Of course they were more than willing to help out!

They drove to the OSU complex and picked up the trophy. Then they really had to get a look at this thing! They drove in to gas up the car and asked a random lady to take their pic. The lady was really confused and even said "Did you steal this, you lost didn't you?"

So here is the pic. Featured from left to right: Jake, Bernie Haynie, Curtis Snowden, Jason Shamburg (although some swore he was Will Spradling) and Scott Munsen.

So the 6th man ( in the car) made of glass and black granite? (guessing?) made its way back to Manhattan where Bernie delivered it to the team.

Man, am I glad I didn't argue to keep Jake home from that trip or I may have never lived it down!

Snow Day #2

Last year we upgraded all of our snow toys and added more to our collection only to be disappointed with NO snow! This year we were blessed many times and with "no school snow days" to play!
